Memorial Gifts

Gifts to St. Luke's in honor or memory of someone are overseen by the Memorial Gifts, History & Archives Committee. The committee's mission is three-fold. First, the committee exists to encourage the giving of appropriate Memorial Gifts to enhance the worship and beauty of St. Luke's Church. Needed gifts come in all price ranges from only a couple hundred dollars to those in the hundreds of thousands. Recently received Memorial Gifts include the beautifully renovated Altar Guild Sacristy, the Flower Guild Sacristy, Gallery Organ Console, exquisitely embroidered Altar Linen, and a complete pottery set of chalices and patens. New memorial gifts are typically dedicated semi-annually at Evensong.
The committee is also responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the church's historic memorials. For example, a recent restoration is the smaller processional cross restored to its original 1880's beauty.
Finally, the committee is responsible for maintaining the church's on-going history and its vast archives (dating from the 1870's) housed at both the church and the Atlanta History Center. A dedicated team of Raymond Keen, Carter Fowlkes, Lori Rush and Barbara O'Brien meet weekly to enhance the archives. Through their efforts a memorial gift was received to restore the Original Vestry Minute Book covering the period of 1871 to 1904.
