Billy Clifton-Strawn's FLORAL MAJORITY Exhibit Comes to the Glenn Gallery

Billy Clifton-Strawn's latest exhibit will be featured in the Glenn Gallery from June 12 through Aug. 31. Please take some time to visit this incredible exhibit when you come to church!
A message from the artist:
In society there is so much positive and negative stimuli. Everyday and everywhere there is something pressing to occupy the mind. This constant barrage of stimuli can become overwhelming. Time out can be a rarity. Just time to relax and calm the mind can feel like a luxury.
The impetus of this exhibition was to present something calm and pleasing for viewer. Nothing to think about too much. A rest for the mind.
Hopefully you may find time to sit on the bench and relax for a moment. Maybe meditate on one of the florals or gaze upon the contours in one of the abstracts. Take a deep breath. Take permission to have a small time out.
This exhibition is in two parts.
PART ONE: FLORAL MAJORITY
Unusual species, varieties and/or colors of flowers are the basis of this series.
This collection consist of florals presented in non traditional formats, pushing the boundaries of what a still life can be. For example, the “Oil Slick Series” features a Bat Flower, Passion Flower, and a Rare Orchid species which are superimposed over the iridescence of light refracting on oil floating on wet pavement.
PART TWO: SPRIER: nimbly energetic; agile; brisk. More spry than spry.
This is an apt definition of the abstracts in the exhibition. These works are emotion and movement. Some say they see music, some say they see florals, some say they see motorcycles and others say they see only color and lines. Each interpretation is correct. There is no right or wrong way to take in this work.
Thank you for taking time out to view my work.
May God’s peace be with you.
