April Family Formation with Rev. Dr. Luther Smith
Saturday, April 20, 2024, 9:30 AM
Join other St. Luke families, volunteers, and invited guests for a morning full of robust learning, community building, and special activities for the whole family. Nursery care is available for children 0-4yrs. Parents, children and youth alike will have the option to engage in age-specific formational opportunities that will deepen and extend the application of our Sunday morning formational offerings. The Rev. Dr. Luther Smith, professor emeritus for Church and Community at Emory University will be with us to talk about resurrection and the practices of cultivating hope.
Saturday morning activities for children and youth are offered each session:
1. St. Luke’s Youth Portraiture Project led by Corrine Adams: Preteens and Teens explore themes of identity, perception, and belonging through portraiture. In addition to learning basic photographic skills, students will work alongside Ms. Corrine to curate a show from their own work for the St. Luke’s gallery. (Youth in grades 6-12th can sign up for this session only once during the fall Formation for Families series. Choose the "Youth Portraiture Project" option for your preferred date of attendance).
2. Bread-baking for Sunday Morning Eucharist: Children of all ages will support the St. Luke’s bread-baking team in preparing, making, and cooking the bread for Sunday morning Eucharist.
3. Chorister Rehearsal: Children and Youth Choristers will join Ms. Colleen to learn repertoire, develop skills in musicianship, and strengthen their vocal technique, all while having fun together.
