Lenten Formation Series: Psalms - An Invitation to the Sacred Art of Lament

Sunday, February 26, 2023, 10:15 AM
Of all the books we have in scripture, the book of Psalms is perhaps the most honest and transparent about all dimensions of the human experience. Not only do the Psalms allow us to express thanksgiving, reverence, awe, and joy to God, but even more-so they invite us to grieve and express our sorrow as well. During the season of Lent, our seminarian, Silas Vermilya, will be leading a class that explores this theme throughout the book of Psalms. Exploring the various dimensions of the Psalter and biblical poetry broadly, this class will give special attention to lament and prayer in the midst of our suffering as we participate in Christ’s journey to the cross. Bring a pen, a notebook, your Bible translation of choice, and your creativity and imagination as we explore this treasure trove of texts together.
