The Ebenezer-St. Luke's Forum welcomes the Rev. Lisa Sharon Harper to its inaugural session on Sunday, February 6 at 1 p.m. A prolific speaker, writer and activist, the Rev. Harper is founder and president of FreedomRoad.us, a consulting group dedicated to shrinking the narrative gap in our nation by designing forums and experiences that bring common understanding, common commitment and common action. From Ferguson to New York, and from Germany and South Africa to Australia and Brazil, Ms. Harper leads trainings that increase clergy and community leaders’ capacity to organize people of faith toward a just world.
REGISTER TO ATTEND IN PERSON OR LIVE ONLINE.
A columnist at Sojourners Magazine, the Rev. Harper earned her Masters degree in Human Rights from Columbia University in New York City, and served as Sojourners Chief Church Engagement Officer. In this capacity, she fasted for 22 days as a core faster in 2013 with the immigration reform Fast for Families. She trained and catalyzed evangelicals in St. Louis and Baltimore to engage the 2014 push for justice in Ferguson and the 2015 healing process in Baltimore, and she educated faith leaders in South Africa to pull the levers of their new democracy toward racial equity and economic inclusion.
ABOUT THE SERIES
The Ebenezer/St. Luke’s Partnership will invite high profile, local and national leaders to catalyze people of faith to deepen our spiritual journeys and expand the impact of our actions as faith-based people and communities on each other and our world. Our goal is for all who attend to have a stronger commitment to deepen their faith and increase their external impact.
We will:
- Explore faith formation, religious education, and civic engagement in ways that catalyze the re-thinking of the content and pedagogy of Christian education and discipleship.
- Deepen the partnership between two historic Atlanta institutions to equip future shared and other ministries that help grow our congregational constituencies and ignite an inclusive vision for the future of greater Atlanta.
In 2022, we have planned five, hybrid forums on Sundays at 1 pm with the exception of April 6, 2022. Each experience will be an interview format led by the Rev. Winnie Varghese, rector of St. Luke's, and the Rev. Dr. Raphael Warnock, senior pastor of Ebenezer, or the Rev. Dr. John Vaughn, executive pastor of Ebenezer.
The Forum will be held in person at St. Luke's on Feb. 6 and will also be available live online. For everyone's safety, masks are required indoors at St. Luke's.
