Lenten Formation Series: Your Life as Prayer

Join fellow parishioners in a study of the history of prayer within the Christian tradition, the diversity of approaches to prayer, neuroscience and prayer, ways of deepening your prayer, and seeing the scope of prayer within your everyday life. This is a five-week series that will meet on Sundays at 10:15 a.m. Please register on Realm.

Week 1 - Feb. 26 - Kate Kennedy: Prayer is central to our faith. We pray in community. We pray in private. We pray from the Prayer Book, and we pray in our own words. Yet, we do not often discuss the practice of prayer. This class will explore what prayer means to us as a community and as individuals. What are the energizers and obstacles of prayer What troubles us What confounds us? What brings us comfort and peace?
Week 2 - March 5 - Gabrielle Thomas: Prayer with some of the Oldies. "Prayer is intimacy with God and contemplation of the invisible… It satisfies our yearnings and makes us equal with angels. Prayer is the enjoyment of things present and the substance of things to come." This week's journey in prayer explores the thoughts and prayers of three friends in the fourth century. Come and see what resonates with you!
Week 3 - March 12 - Elaine DeCostanzo: This class will focus on
”Prayers from the Pews.” Join Elaine DeCostanzo and members of the St. Luke's community in the diversity of approaches to prayer through practice and culture.
Week 4 - March 19 - Lisa Boswell and Louis McLeod: Please join us for, “This is your Brain on Prayer.” Join Lisa and Louis for a discussion of some of the recent neuroscience insights into meditation, prayer, and health.
Week 5 - March 26 - Elaine DeCostanzo: Where do we go from here? Join Elaine DeCostanzo and members of the St. Luke's community for an overview of the many ways we pray as a community with opportunities for connection and inclusion.
