Advent Class 1 - Addiction, Longing, Human Dignity
Sunday, December 10, 2023, 10:15 AM
Dr Lisa Boswell
“Addiction, longing, and human dignity.”
Gerald May once said “the spiritual significance of addiction is not just that we lose freedom through attachment to things, nor even that things so easily become our ultimate concerns. Of much more importance is that we try to fulfill our longing for God through objects of attachment.’” (Addiction and Grace, 1991). This small group will allow for further conversation on the topic of addiction in our private lives and our culture at large. This class is open to anyone who wants to understand addiction further. We will be in conversation about the biology of addiction, the voices of those with lived experience of addiction, and how the Church can advocate for the dignity of all people.
