This Sunday, Sept. 10: Healing and Hearing with Horace: Pastoral Care Forums ... Parishioners are invited to a conversation with The Rev. Horace Griffin, the new associate for Pastoral Care and Parish Life, about pastoral care interests and needs at St. Luke’s. All are invited to these important conversations. The first of three forums is today, for seniors (70 and older), at 12:30 p.m. in the Hamilton Room. A light lunch will be provided. Next Sunday, September 17, will be for young and middle-aged adults (same format). Please RSVP to Horace or Beth, the rector’s executive assistant, so that we can prepare lunch accordingly. On Sunday, September 24 the youth with meet with Horace during their Sunday 2.0 meeting. Sunday 2.0 Kickoff Cookout ... All are invited to celebrate the start of the program year at our annual Kickoff Cookout. We eat at 5 p.m. in The Park.

We rehearse most Sundays as part of Sunday 2.0 but this year we will also offer rehearsal time on first and third Wednesdays: Sunday 2.0: Senior Choristers: 4:15 – 5p.m. Adventures in Music: 4:30-5 p.m. Prep Choir: 5:00 – 5:45 p.m. Junior Choristers: 5 – 5:45 p.m. 1st and 3rd Wednesdays: Prep Choir: 5:45 – 6:30 p.m. Junior Choristers: 5:45 – 6:30 p.m. Senior Choristers: 6:30 – 7:15 p.m. Pizza supper is served at 5:15 p.m. Bible Study ... Join us Wednesdays at 11 a.m. in the Parkins Room. We’re focusing on Romans. We will delve into theology in the making as Paul wrestles with enduring issues: justification and grace, sin and salvation, a vision of unity, and the faithfulness of God—the same issues that believers have contemplated throughout the history of the church. This study of Romans is particularly timely, as we observe the upcoming 500th anniversary of the Reformation, 1517-2017. We will talk about the role that Paul’s letter played in the life of reformer Martin Luther and the events surrounding the Reformation. All are welcome! Choir Rehearsal ... Wednesdays at 7:20 p.m. in the Choir Room. Young Adults’ Manuel’s Meet Up ... If you’re between the ages of 21-38, you’re invited to join us Thursday, Sept. 21 at 6 p.m. for community and a guided discussion at Manuel’s Tavern in Poncey-Highlands. Our rector, Dan Matthews, will join us for this first Meet Up of the new program year. This a great opportunity of newcomers as well as long-time members to meet fellow young adults. And mark it on your calendars, we meet every 3rd Thursday at Manuel’s. Lawn Games for Atlanta Streets Alive ... St. Luke's is on the route for this annual-family-friendly day of activities one Sunday, September 24, 2 - 6 p.m. along Peachtree Street (atlantastreetsalive.com). The Evangelism Committee is serving as an activity host and inviting our neighbors to join us in the park for some lawn games. We hope you'll come outside and play with us! If you have any lawn games (cornhole, badminton, large bubble wands, frisbees or similar) that you can lend for the day, or if you'd be willing to volunteer in handing our water, greeting visitors and helping the day go smoothly, please contact Stephanie Hendricks at shendricks91@gmail.com. Please join us in the Mustard Seed Garden on Saturday, September 30, from 9-11 a.m., as we harvest the remainder of our summer veggies, refresh the beds, and plant cooler weather crops. No experience or tools needed; just bring gardening gloves, hat, bug spray, and your enthusiasm. We’ll provide drinks. All produce from the garden is donated to Clyde’s Kitchen at Crossroads. EYC to Atlanta United ... The youth are heading to Atlanta United FC’s second-ever soccer game at the new stadium on Sunday, Oct. 22. Join us next Sunday, Sept. 17 at 12:30 p.m. in the Garden for this monthly prayer service. We gather the third Sunday each month to pray together for an end to gun violence and terrorism. Bridge Builders ... are small groups of people who commit to meeting regularly for candid and vulnerable conversations about race relationships, specifically between blacks and whites, at St. Luke’s. Bridge Builders is excited to expand its offerings this program year as we continue the important work, self-knowledge and communal growth. Want to join the conversation?
