Our Vestry
The Anglican Church recognizes that laity have a right to participate actively in the governance and decision-making of the church. The Vestry is the legal representative of the Parish "in all matters concerning its corporate property and the relation of the parish to its clergy." Vestry members are elected by the parish, and their basic responsibilities are to help define and articulate the mission of the congregation; to support the church's mission by word and deed, to select the rector, to ensure effective organization and planning, and to manage resources and finances.

The rector is the presiding officier of the Vestry and selects two wardens from the elected members. The senior warden leads the parish between rectors and is a support person for the rector. The junior warden often has responsibility for church property and buildings. The size of a church's Vestry and the term of office varies from parish to parish. The Vestry at St. Luke's includes 12 members elected for three year terms.
The Vestry Class of 2012
Vestry elections are quickly approaching and we need your recommendations. The Vestry Nominating Committee is securing nominees for the 2012 Vestry Class. We are seeking four (4) new members to serve in this most important ministry of our church. At the annual meeting in January, we intend to present a slate of four (4) individuals for election by the congregation. In addition to the four (4) nominees presented by the Committee, vestry nominees may also be made upon written request by members of the congregation. Forms are available at the Reception Desk and must be submitted to David Lowery, parish Administrator, no less than thirty (30) days prior to the Annual Meeting. You can also submit nominations electronically via this website.
We are asking you, the St. Luke’s Congregation, to engage in the process of identifying the new 2012 Vestry class. We urge you to please participate in this process and provide us your recommendations.
