We are almost at 100 kids registered for VBS!

The last day to register is May 14th, so get your registration in soon so we can reach our goal!

Confirmation cards will be going out soon about VBS groups, service projects and, of course, Water Day!  We are excited to be "Knowing Jesus" this summer from June 11-15.

We can still use volunteers to make lunches or help out during the week.  Contact Anna MacHarg - 404-514-9134 to get involved.

Volunteer Training for Leadership is on May 20th from 10:10-11:15.   Please mark your calendars for this important training.

Catching hope

Last fall, Bishop Alexander set a goal for our diocese of sending 35,000 mosquito nets to sub-saharan Africa to support the Nets for Life campaign.  Why do people in Africa need mosquito nets?    While Malaria was eradicated in the US recently, there are communities in Africa that are still affected by this deadly disease.  At St. Luke's, our Nets for Life liaison, Jonathan Serrie, asked the children to get involved with fundraising.   Our Parent-Teacher team came up with a plan for our kids to help "catch hope" for those struggling with Malaria.

Butterflies are a symbol of our Easter hope for new life or change.  Last Sunday the kids of St. Luke's colored almost 200 butterflies to share with the congregation.  They learned that each butterfly could represent hope to a person in Africa.  The butterflies could change into $12 that could provide a net that would protect someone from a mosquito carrying Malaria.

In honor of world Malaria day, all the butterflies will be distributed during Sunday services to encourage everyone to donate.  Throughout May children will "catch" your donations in their butterfly nets and then add a butterfly to the stairway to our classrooms.  Help us cover the walls with butterflies of hope as we remember our Easter hope in Jesus.   You can click on the link "Nets for Life" to donate online, but please list St. Luke's so we can butterflies to the wall.   All donations before May 25th will be doubled, so help us add more butterflies faster by donating now.

Agape Feast and Footwashing

Are you a fan of kids eating healthy things like fruits and veggies?  Well, the agape feast for you!

Bring your favorite fruit, veggie, cheese or crackers to share as we feast like the disciples did in the last supper on Thursday, April 5th.  There is plenty to eat as we have a celebration amid this sad and dark time of Holy Week.

Then just as Jesus did with the disciples we wash our feet.  The service is unique and it can be emotional to have someone wash your feet, so you might want to go and help your child.  There is childcare available after and during the meal as well.

Don't forget Sunday's special events -

Flowering of the Cross at 8:45 in the bell tower

Easter Egg hunt in Hamilton Room after 9:00 service

See you soon!

Parent-Teacher Team

This year Children's Ministry formed a team of adults to support Christian Education & Formation efforts at St. Luke's.   Their purpose to provide a link between families and our Director.   They also want to create opportunities for families make a bridge between Sunday and the rest of the week.  It is great group of people committed to making education/formation a priority for many years to come.

They meet about every 2-3 months to coordinate events, give feedback about curriculum and devotional ideas.   The members are Polly Bowman, Lorraine Miller, Alex Sherrill and Katie Silvis.

Their next project is teacher appreciation on April 22nd and Nets for Life in May.   Watch for ways you can help support this team.    Do you want to join the team for the Fall?  Contact Heather - heather@stlukesatlanta.org

Oh and Holy Week begins today!  Happy Palm Sunday...
