Poinsettia Delivery ... Among our parish’s many traditions, this is a very special one, sponsored by the Daughters of the King. Following services on Sunday, Dec. 17, stop by the Glenn Gallery to select a beautiful Poinsettia to deliver to members who are homebound or reside in assisted living/nurse care homes. A special invitation goes out to folks with children – children can be spectacular ambassadors of the church! The name and address of a parishioner to visit is provided.
Toy Tag ... Join EYC at the Target at Lindbergh Plaza on Sunday, Dec. 17 to play a fun game and gather toys for the children of Emmaus House! We will meet at the Target at 5:30 to collect the toys and then head on over to the Matthews’ house to wrap the presents and enjoy some delicious food! Youth should be dropped off at the Target at 5:30 p.m. and picked up at the Matthew’s house at 8 p.m. Please bring $20 with you to participate!
Men’s Breakfast ... Don’t miss our Advent gathering on Tuesday, December 19. All men of St. Luke’s - and their friends and colleagues - are invited to attend. The Rev. Dan Matthews will lead our program. Coffee begins at 7 a.m. with breakfast served at 7:30 a.m. followed by a program from 8-8:30 a.m.; Cost: $5.00. Greenery from your Garden ... The Flower Guild needs your greenery (especially holly and red berries, pine, blue-hued evergreens, cypress, magnolia and eleaguus) to enhance Christmas at St. Luke’s. Please place your cuttings on the Flower Guild counter (in the south ambulatory) by Monday, December 19.
Advent Outreach Tree ... During Advent, celebrate Christ’s light in the word by making a donation to one of the ministries supported by the tree and receive a lovely ornament explaining the donation to give to your friends or family. This year’s tree benefits: IHAD, TACC and Crossroads.
Let It Shine! ... Thank you to all those parishioners who have completed and return a pledge card! We encourage those who have not yet done so, to please do so as soon as possible. Thank you for being a part of and supporting our church’s many ministries.
Live from St. Luke’s ... If you can’t be with us here on Peachtree Street to worship on Christmas Eve, join us virtually. We will broadcast live the 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. services on December 24. All you have to do is go to the church homepage and click! The services will also be archived, if you’d like to watch at another time.

The Vestry Nominating Committee ... has announced its 2018 slate of candidates: C.J. Cash, Sara Kennedy, Neil Schemm and Drew Vann. Parishioners have until thirty days prior to the Annual Meeting to make additional nominations by submitting a petition signed by at least 3 parishioners in good standing. Those elected will replace Debbie Bachmann, Ardith Barrow, Phil Lamson and Brian Opsahl, who will have fulfilled their terms as of January 2018. The Annual Parish Meeting is Sunday, January 28 at 11 a.m.
Advent Reflections by Email and Text ... It is not too late to sign up to receive the reflections each day by text or email. To put your name on the email list, go to the Sign Up tab on the church website and sign up. If you’d like to get a link texted to you each morning, text REFLECTIONS to 64600 - and you’ll be all set.
Christmas Meal at Crossroads ... Volunteers are needed to assist Clyde in the Kitchen as he serves a hearty meal and holiday cheer on Thursday, Dec. 21. Each year, Crossroads saves this volunteer opportunity for St. Luke’s members. Sign up at the Reception Desk as there are a limited number of spots. Volunteers begin at 8:30 a.m. The meal is served beginning at 10 a.m.
The Christmas Pageant .... will need lots of animals to welcome Baby Jesus. All children are invited to participate in the pageant at the 4 p.m. service Christmas Eve. Just come to the St. Luke Room beginning at 3:15 p.m. to pick out a costume. There will be volunteers to help and to “entertain” the kids while they wait for the service to begin. Parents can find seats in the Nave and enjoy the musical prelude. The children join their families at the Peace.
Christmas Brunch ... on New Year’s Eve morning! Come enjoy breakfast with your church family at this annual event in the Parish Hall at 10 a.m. on Sunday, December 31. Sojourners Epiphany Party ... Join your fellow Sojourners for an elegant evening of heavy hors d’oeuvre, drinks, and fellowship on Saturday, January 6 from 5-8 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Alaska Pilgrimage ... Current high school freshmen and sophomores - and their parents - are invited to learn more about this summer’s big adventure to Alaska on Sunday, January 7 at 10:15 a.m. in Luke Room. We’re in the early stages of planning, so this is the perfect time to come find out more.
Are You a Good Samaritan? ... We are forming a new lay-led care team providing short term help to parishioners in need of care. Would you be willing to run errands, provide transportation to a doctor appointment or deliver a meal to a parishioner experiencing a difficult time. This ministry will have a lay leader or Good Samaritan Team Captain who will work with the Rev. Horace Griffin. Insulated Bags For Sale ... by the St. Francis Green Guild again this Advent. The popular bags are red this time around with the church logo in black. This is a fundraiser as the Guild continues working on Creation Care and energy efficiency at St. Luke’s. Proceeds from this sale go toward LED lights for the sanctuary. The bags are $8 each, or 2 for $15. There are also just a few of the stainless steel waterbottles left for purchase - let us know if you want one.
